Humanity

Humanity is an association dedicated to the plight of refugees. Since its creation in 2016, following an initial migratory crisis, it has sought to work towards enabling their autonomy. Together with the people we welcome, we develop integration programs that focus on their potential. Through material support and access to language and socio-cultural training, Humanity aims to facilitate the social inclusion of refugees. At the same time, it aims to raise awareness of citizenship in the host society.

In 2023, in collaboration with Benjamin Magne, a nurseryman specializing in edible forests, Humanity plans to create an edible forest in the Parc Maugrand, a mining park located in the heart of the town of Montceau-les-Mines. The project combines the planting of fruit trees, shrubs and perennials (and their maintenance through mulching, watering, pruning and pest and disease management); the construction of wooden shelters, garden furniture and structures for growing crops; and the organization of workshops and demonstrations to multiply plants (grafting, cuttings, sowing) and learn how to handle a scythe.

The project is made possible by financial support from the city and the provision of a 3,000 m² plot of land, ideally located. It will involve refugees, supervised by social and permaculture professionals, who will meet on a weekly basis. It will also mobilize the local community by organizing educational visits for schoolchildren. Humanity has been joined in this project by the Le Pont association, which operates in several specific fields of social action, including housing for target populations. Enthusiasm is contagious!

Humanity's 5 missions

  • Support the social inclusion of asylum seekers and refugees
  • Provide material aid (emergency aid if necessary) for the reception and settlement of all socially vulnerable people
  • Ease administrative procedures (accompaniment, help with paperwork, etc.) and mediate with institutions (translation in particular)
  • Strengthen language training systems
  • Promote equality and equity, raise civil society's awareness of asylum and refugee issues, and encourage intercultural exchanges.
