"The participative aspect of the project is attractive: the Lafilavie association was created to support the projects identified by the villagers themselves, thereby guaranteeing their success in the field and a proper matching with the needs of the population."

Since it was founded in 2004, the Lafilavie association hasn't been idle. Dedicated to the development of Issaogo, a village of 6000 inhabitants in northern Burkina Faso, it has already completed the construction of a health and social welfare center. In two years, a dispensary and a pharmaceutical store have also emerged. Built with the help of the villagers, this unit is nearly functional today. It now remains to drill a well, a conventional operation in the region, to supply the necessary water.
A long-term commitment
Already financed to 20%, the Issaogo health center enjoys the benevolent attentions of the State of Burkina Faso: the local authorities plan to assign two nurses to manage the center. The purchase of medical equipment is also budgeted.
That leaves the final element: water. While the village has four operating boreholes, this is insufficient for the health center. By financing the planned well, the Veolia Foundation will enable the buildings to procure water and electricity. This is an indispensable final touch to offer Issaogo a permanent health center.
