Michel Dierickx is an unwaveringly committed project sponsor. Les Garances, a project funded by the Veolia Foundation, bears witness to his commitment. The non-profit seeks to address the lack of support available to people with learning difficulties and has committed to creating a living space for them. The project encompasses a living space, an environmental resource centre and a permaculture teaching farm.
The Foundation’s support is bolstered on the ground by the commitment of Veolia Belgium’s dedicated employees. Spearheaded by Michel Dierickx, the HR Business Manager, a dozen or so employees have used their working hours and free time to help the team at Les Garances. For several half-days in June and July, the regional manager Pascal Laurent, site managers, admin staff and operatives from the group were involved in demolition, insulation and painting work. This major contribution enabled the building’s structure to be completed in August. The ensuing six months will be dedicated to fitting out the building and obtaining the authorisation needed to cater for people with disabilities. The new facility will open to the public in January 2018.
