The 2023 edition of World Water Day coincides with the start of the United Nations Water Conference, which takes place from 22 to 24 March in New York. The Veolia Foundation, represented on site by its Deputy Executive director, David Poinard, will emphasize the importance of water in the fight against cholera and the vital nature of access to water in humanitarian situations.
With its partners, including the French Water Partnership (FWP), the Veolia Foundation is taking part in the United Nations Water Conference, from March 22 to 24 in New York, which brings together all the stakeholders concerned by the subject.
Through its Deputy Executive director, David Poinard, it will present its commitment in Uvira, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to provide access to water, a lever in the fight against cholera on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. With the support of the French Development Agency (AFD), it is helping Régideso, the local operator, to improve the production, storage and distribution of drinking water.
The Veolia Foundation also plays a very active role in the resilience of populations after disasters. With its NGO partners, it provides water in emergency or post-emergency humanitarian situations. In Turkey, it mobilized to help the populations affected by the earthquake of February 6. In Pakistan, it took part in the mission organised by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) after the deadly floods of 2022. In Guadeloupe, last autumn, she intervened alongside the French Red Cross after the passage of tropical storm Fiona.
