Association nationale des étudiants en sciences et techniques des activités physiques et sportives (Anestaps) (National association of students in science and techniques of physical and sports activities)

Anestaps, the national association of STAPS students, was awarded the Student Solidarity Jury Prize 2023 for its project to set up a solidarity thrift shop in Paris. A new player in a social and solidarity-based economy that promotes cohesion around the values of sport.

Anestaps, the national association of students in the sciences and techniques of physical and sports activities (Staps), aims to guarantee equal opportunities for Staps students and, more broadly, all young people involved in the field of sport and entertainment. It also aims to develop access to physical activity and sport as a tool for education, social integration, health and inclusion for all.

Against this backdrop, Anestaps is planning to set up a branch of the Friperie Sport Planète network in Paris. These services, set up on university campuses, enable the sale, loan, rental or even barter of sports equipment and textiles. In Paris, like its counterparts already open, the planned Friperie Solidaire will offer low-cost, second-hand sports and handisport items.

For Anestaps, the opening of such a shop will also help to promote the practice of sport and responsible consumption among students. A one-stop-shop will be set up to provide information on the range of sports and physical activities on offer in clubs and federations, as well as free activities in the area. The association could even go so far as to offer free or low-cost sports licenses to young people in precarious situations. This circular economy project fueled by the spirit of solidarity won the Jury's Prize at the 2023 edition of the Veolia Foundation Student Solidarity Prize.
